Bone Thugs N Harmony | 20 Years Later

It all started in the early 1990s in Cleveland, Ohio with a group called “The Band-Aid Boys” who were determined to make it to the top. They spent their days cold calling record execs and even scrounged together the money they had to buy one-way bus tickets to LA in hopes of tracking down Easy-E. The original members, Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone and Wish Bone spent 3 months on the streets with no luck, and headed back to Cleveland only to audition for Easy in the dressing room before one of his shows. Easy took them on and renamed them “Thugs-n-Harmony”, but wanting to keep the original theme of “B.O.N.E Enterprises”, the men added on to create “Bone Thugs-n-Harmony” and the rest is history.

The rap group has come a long way since Eazy-E signed them to Ruthless Records in 1993 and debuted their EP Creepin on ah Come Up the next year, which included their hit single “Thuggish Ruggish Bone”. 20 years later, the original men plus Flesh n Bone filled The Mezzanine in San Francisco with a varied crowd. The men displayed raw vocals that seemed to have transcended the test of time. Not only do the men have as much energy as you would expect when they first started, but after two decades their music seems to be untainted by other music industry trends. Their rapid fire vocals are faster than ever and their stage presence matched that of their first performances. Its a wonder how the men can continue this hustle after 20 years of performing.

Being the only rap group to work with 2Pac and Notorious B.I.G. while they were still alive, the men honored both by following their collaboration with Biggie “Notorious Thugs” with an interlude of 2Pac’s legendary “California Love”, which lead to their collaboration with the west coast star “Thug Luv”. Of course, they also performed their iconic songs “Thuggish Ruggish Bone”, “First of tha Month”, and “Foe tha Love of $”. You can check out the full set list below.
