review | Runway to Happiness- The Green Room

Though “peace, love, and happiness” is generally the motto, at this event it was “fashion, cocktails, and happiness.” Project Happiness, an organization that specializes in emotional resilience-building programs endorsed by public schools and universities around the world, put on an ultra chic charity fashion soiree. Held in the elegant Green Room at the San Francisco War Memorial, stylish guests (including yours truly), were treated to tasty hors d’oeuvres, yummy cocktails, insight into an amazing organization, and let’s not forget, fashion!

The event kicked off with a screening of the trailer to a documentary film by Project Happiness. The documentary focuses on the epidemic of stress and depression found within youth in various communities worldwide, and their paths to generate happiness. The company introduction and trailer were presented by Ms. Randy Taran, the CEO and Chief Happiness Officer of the organization. Dressed in a gorgeous brocade patchwork dress by Dries Van Noten, Taran gave an amazingly inspirational speech about the organization’s mission and set the festive tone for the evening. With the crowd cheering and smiles galore, the show began.

The show was sprinkled with clothing from some of the top names in fashion. We saw a little of Maison Martin Margiela, Comme des Garcons, and Jil Sander just to name a few of my faves. The show was an honest reflection of the evening’s objective: achieving happiness. At the end of the show, the models came out in pairs–smiling, dancing, and happy–reminding us about the power of happiness and leaving us to continue our evening walking on clouds, even in our six-inch heels.
