Have you heard? MGMT is back with a tour across the US and Canada, beginning by headlining at Penn State’s Movin’ On spring music festival in April.
A February 2013 interview with Rolling Stone uncovered that a tour may be a lead up to a possible new album release, expected in April.
For fans who got hooked on MGMT’s 2008 debut album Oracular Spectacular, the 2010 sophomore effort, Congratulations, was a surprising change, where founding bandmates Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser broke away from the full band to create their own sounds. Much like Congratulations, this new album is also expected to be a duo recording, and VanWyngarden and Goldwasser say it was influenced by Aphex Twin and various house music.
