With only 12 days and a handful of shows, the Detroit Swindle US tour has already come to an end. Luckily, we caught the Dutchmen’s performance at Public Works in San Francisco last Friday.

Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets delivered a 2-hour set mostly filled with tech house, deep house and disco. Using a complete four-deck setup (two turntables and two cd players), you could see those two spinning 12” and playing mp3. This hybrid form of DJing deserves a lot of respect, especially when it comes to manual beatmatching and carrying those heavy crates. Atmosphere-wise, the Public Works’ main room with its minimal VJing and lighting was the perfect environment for such a performance. This eclectic mix managed to keep the crowd packed and dancing until 1:30 am, when they handed the decks to Miami’s Danny Daze.

Did you miss it? You’ll have to wait until October to see Detroit Swindle on the US territory again.
