As part of their US summer tour, Australian indie-rock band The John Butler Trio made a stop at The Van Buren in Phoenix on June 14th. Their music blends elements of folk and country to create a unique sound which finds a place in the American Southwest easily as their native Australia. A new album is expected from the band some time this year, in fact, the band will be playing new material while on tour in the US and Europe. Details about the new album are still sparse, but their new single “Bully,” is out now.
Opening for The John Butler Trio, is the rambunctious and effervescent Mama Kin. Mama Kin Spender will be touring with The John Butler Trio through June and July and also performing at the Saskachewan Folk Festival and the Minnipeg Folk Festival.
