BY MATTEA PIESCH

We’re already two weeks into July but we didn’t mean to withhold this month’s amazing festivals from you! We got a little caught up celebrating the 4th of July but are now all hyped up and ready to enjoy some good live music! It’s hot out, the nights are long and there is no better way to celebrate this month with cold drinks and some great artists and bands.

Muse at Rock in Roma

Muse at Rock in Roma

Extrema Outdoor, Eindhoven, The Netherlands

Dates: 11 July
Details: You have to be a hardcore EDM fan to really get something out of Extrema Outdoor (also known as XO). Just one day is filled with over 100 artists that play on seven different stages! You better show up well rested since this party will keep you on your feet dancing from dusk til dawn. The line-up includes Flosstradamus, Boys Noize, Brodinski and 2ManyDJs.

Calgary Stampede, Calgary, Canada

Dates: 3 July – 12 July
Details: The Calgary Stampede is one of the world’s largest rodeos and fair grounds. Over the years it has grown bigger and bigger. While presenting mainly traditional horse rodeos, the stampede also features a great musical line-up. Besides a lot of country artists including The Voice’s Blake Shelton, there will also be shows by indie heros OK GO, newcomer Vance Joy and the legend Stevie Wonder.

T in the Park, Perthshire, Scotland

Dates: 10 July – 12 July
Details: This is definitely not your ordinary tea time. For the first time ever, T in the Park is taking place at the historical Strathallan Castle. This typical Scottish setting delivers its visitors performances by Noel Gallagher, Jessie J, Sam Smith and Avicii. Make sure to pack your kilt for this one!

Rock in Roma, Rome, Italy

Dates: 16 July – 18 July
Details: Get ready for a festival that is packed with the biggest names in the music industry! From Linkin Park, The Chemical Brothers, Mumford & Sons to Interpol and Muse – Rock in Roma is the largest music festival in Italy and therefore presents all the artists you want to see! The good thing about this festival is that you can buy tickets for each show separately if you don’t want to do three days of nonstop partying.

Super Bock Super Rock, Lisboa, Portugal

Dates: 16 July – 18 July
Details: Oddly enough, this huge festival takes place indoor at the Meo Arena in the port of Lisboa. But considering the fact that it gets really hot in Portugal at this time of the year, you might be better off inside. Super Bock Super Rock is known to mix national artists with international super stars like Franz Ferdinand, Bombay Bicycle Club and The Vaccines.

Melt!, Ferropolis, Germany

Dates: 17 July – 19 July
Details: Melt! is a German hipster’s paradise. Cool kids love this festival as it features the hottest indie and electronic acts of the moment.
Besides some national artists, the festival also holds performances by the ever-amazing Kylie Minogue, Jamie XX, Tove Lo and Santigold.

Dates: 17 July – 19 July
Details: Despite the fact that Pitchfork Festival has grown immensely over the past years, ticket prices are reasonable. Pitchfork cooperates with a lot of local companies to keep the festival sustainable and remain a local brand.
Pitchfork’s line-up this year is like a box of the finest chocolates you’ve ever eaten. Eventseeker’s favorite Australian rocker girl Courtney Barnett is just one of the many talents to check out there.

Project Pabst, Portland, OR

Dates: 17 July – 19 July
Details: Project Pabst presents the odd and yet wonderful combination of beer and unicorns. The main festival takes place Saturday and Sunday and features all-time favorite bands such as Weezer and Blondie. Look out for the Project Pabst arcade where you can enjoy some vintage video and pinball games. While the main festival presents some mainstream acts, there are a lot of smaller shows happening at clubs and bars around the city by some more unknown artists.

The Secret Garden Party, Cambridgeshire, UK

Dates: 23 July – 26 July
Details: Taking place in the garden (you guessed it) of a Georgian farm in Huntingdon, England, the festival offers a beautiful setting to chill out, enjoy the music and get your hippy vibes on. Additionally, visitors can choose between a great variety of accommodations on-site such as tipi tents, luxury camper vans and bohemian wood cabins.

Splendour in the Grass, Byron Bay, Australia

Dates: 24 July – 26 July
Details: Byron Bay is a hippie surf town near the Gold Coast in Australia. A lot of festivals take place here every year and attract visitors from all over the world. One of the highlights this year is going to be the only Australian show by UK legends Blur. And we have a feeling that the Aussies aren’t going to carry Damon Albarn off stage, no matter how long he decides to play.
